Inherit Austin is a special membership group of the Heritage Society of Austin composed of families and younger Austinites.
For a half century, the Heritage Society of Austin (link to Heritage Society) has worked to preserve and protect the historic places of Texas' capital city including the Driskill Hotel, the Paramount Theater, the Lundberg Bakery and the Governor's Mansion. As Austin's premier community preservation group, the Heritage Society offers a special membership group called Inherit Austin to provide volunteer support and leadership for its programs, and to cultivate and encourage a new spirit of participation by families and younger Austinites.
Proceeds from Inherit Austin activities go to support the Heritage Society's programs and activities, especially, Pioneer Farms , Austin's own 1880's working farm.
Inherit Austin is committed to the vision and mission of preserving Austin's architectural and cultural past by not only protecting the city's important landmarks and historical fabric, but safeguarding its unique character as well. As Austin continues to grow, it is vital that Austin's unique past and flavor be preserved as positive changes take places.
Inherit Austin offers you the chance to participate in special events planned for the entire family like the Austin Family Music Festival held at Pioneer Farms, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and other fun events at historic and cultural Austin venues. It gives you the opportunity to help preserve Austin by volunteering for various Heritage Society activities, where you can learn more about architectures, historic preservation, home renovation, interior design and cultural heritage.
It also offers you a special place in Austin's oldest and most dynamic historic preservation organization - saving the character of Austin's past for its future generations.
